How to: Transfer videos from your iPhone to your PC

So here's the situation: You got your iPhone and you've just taken some amazing footage of your family on vacation, or your cat dancing to the moves of "Thriller", and now you want to share that video with everyone you know. But you don't know how; Yes, there's an "upload to youtube" feature on the iPhone, but the video won't be in the rich quality you want everyone to see it in. Not only that, but what if you just want to have the file on your computer to do what you want with it - having it on the phone itself just limits you and who you can show it to since once a video has gone over a certain file size it can't be emailed or MMS'd. And iTunes can't help you here either.
The question then lies, how do you move these files to your PC?
Free solutions:
Connect your iPhone to your PC via USB, then head to My Computer. If it detects it as a folder you'll see it here, where you can then double click and find the videos you've taken, and copy and paste them over to your desktop. If it sees it a camera, I believe you can do the exact same thing and extract your videos in the same manner.
If for some reason you don't see the iPhone in there, then don't worry - I have a couple solutions for you. But first why doesn't it show up there when it's supposed to? I'm not sure exactly myself. I do remember when I used Windows XP seeing the annoying "Camera Detected" window whenever I plugged in my iPhone into my PC, but suddenly, during one day when I hadn't realized it, the folder was gone (I'm using Windows 7 now).
What I've deducted from this is that there's an issue with the drivers used to communicate with your computer when it's plugged in. If that sentence didn't make sense then don't worry about it. It just means that your computer was having some problems talking to your phone and connecting to it properly. That's why the phone can still be seen in iTunes, but not in your My Computer folder.
What to do now? Let's try some free software to fix this up:

Follow the link above and download this free software. What it's going to do is install itself into your Windows Explorer as an extension, granting you access to your see your iPhone's folders the same way you would a normal removable flash drive. You should now see your iPhone inside your My Computer folder.
If that doesn't work then let's try something else.
Paid software w/ trial periods:

This little number is really user friendly, and only costs a whopping $9.90. Once you've got it downloaded and installed on your PC, just fire it up and you'll see a Start Here folder with a Get Started PDF file for you to read. You can just ignore and that and focus your attention on bottom left and find where it says "DiskAid Folder" - you're going to want to click that and then highlight and click Media folder. It should then recognize your iPhone and give you the list of folders within your phone. Find the DCIM folder and locate your videos, then highlight and click on the big button on the top left, Copy to PC, and you should be set to go.

It's going to put you back $20 bucks, but it's well worth it. But I do want to mention that if you decide to go with the free trial, when it's expired you still ahve access to the application - the limitations added limit you to only 1 file transfer at a time, which isn't a big deal unless you're using your phone as a camcorder 24/7.
So install this program, then open it up via your Start Menu or Desktop icon, then go to File and highlight and click Open with Windows Explorer. You'll be sent to your My Computer folder again and this time you should now see the suave iPhone icon, which is clickable and will take you to your phone's folders. In here there are a ton of things to get lost in, so just ignore everything except the DCIM (Digital Camera IMages) folder where your precious video files will be located. Once you've found the wanted videos highlight them and then right click, highlight export and select the folder you want to transfer your videos to. If it all works then you've found your solution.
If you are still having issues, or your iPhone isn't being recognized AT ALL by your PC, then it'd be best if you went over to Apple's customer service page for help on those issues. I hope this guide helped.
