Microsoft Co-Founder patent slaps Facebook, Apple and Google
From the department of “Holy shit, I have less money than last year. Lets sue some companies!” — Paul Allen, entrepreneur and cofounder of Microsoft has decided to create the biggest abomination in patent lawsuit history — he has filed a lawsuit against 11 companies for infringements on his Web search patents.
This is going to be fun (and messy).
Facebook rival Diaspora goes live September 15
Earlier this year, Facebook encountered a sh*tstorm of negative claims that privacy was the least of the companies priorities. After the dust settled, a new startup called Diaspora emerged from the rubble and announced they would create the Facebook rival, with privacy being the number one priority. Lets all hope they dont collapse in on themselves like a dying star…
Facebook blocks Ads for Pot legalization
“Proponents of marijuana legalization, which is on the California ballot in 2010, have hit a Facebook wall in their effort to grow an online campaign to rethink the nation’s pot laws.” — just recently, their ads were removed by Facebook. Facebook says that the ads “promoted smoking” but that isn’t going to stop the coming sh*t storm of online protesters. Barricade the office doors Facebook (and hide the pie/cookies)…
You can't block Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook
“The title of this post kind of says it all. As pointed out by blockzuck.com, you can block anyone on Facebook except CEO Mark Zuckerberg. This kind of thing is funny, and adds a little personality to the site. But Facebook is getting way too big and culturally important for things like this to continue.” — Tech Crunch
Video - Facebook's Thought On Places
Facebook has announced they are adding places to it’s iPhone updates. Some people think it’s super cool even though it has been around for years with companies like Loopt. Facebook has had huge privacy issues lately and many users are skeptical about sharing where they are with people.
My area was just enabled and I will be testig it for the next few days. Wish me luck…
Privacy Groups and Facebook already fighting over "Places"
“Facebook’s new “Places” have been a long time coming, and privacy groups were ready to pounce when the company finally announced the location-based feature. Several privacy advocates say that the settings are unnecessarily complex and that users could have certain personal info exposed without their consent.” — Ars Technica
Will Facebook announce location services tomorrow?
“We’ve just received an invitation to visit Facebook’s Palo Alto campus on Wednesday to get “an update on the service’s features and products,” and rumor has it the powers that be want to talk about location-based products.” — Mashable

Someone created a Facebook "Meh" button
From the department of “holy crap, why didn’t I think of this first”, The Atlantic Wire had a fantastic idea in which Facebook should add a “Meh” button. This is a neat idea because right now, we can either “Like” or “Dislike” our friends stuff, but there isn’t an official way to say “I don’t care ‘bout this”, but finally those crafty guys over at PubNub have created that very button, which you can install for free.

A recent Facebook exploit has surfaced revealing everyone’s full name, profile picture and dignity. Right now, Facebook’s login system allows hackers to use a sneaky method in which they index random email adresses, and pick out the first and last names from the contact information. Then they brute force through Facebook’s login exploit to match the user info with the corresponding email address, even when users have configured their accounts to make that information private.

What if social media was thought up in the 1950’s? What if the Internet was a public convenience 60 years ago? Well, if that were true I’m sure Facebook, Youtube and Skype would have been at their peak, just like they are today. These are some really beautiful vintage ads for our favorite online service, created by Sao Paulo ad agency Moma. I want to know, if you could see a 50’s ad for a modern online service, what would it be? 4chan counts (I guess).
10 strange facts you didn't know about Facebook
I stumbled into this article while eating breakfast and I can’t deny that it is one of the most interesting pieces of the week. Did you know that Al Pacino’s Face Was on the Original Facebook Homepage? Or that there’s an App to See What’s on the Facebook Cafe Menu? Neither did I, and I urge you to read on…
Video - First Full Length Trailer for "The Social Network"
Listening to a school choir belt out “Creep” by Radiohead, and watch as Facebook gets lifted out of the internet and into theaters makes me wonder: Is this going to be the first movie of its kind?
I mean, there’s Twitter, Google, Youtube, and Yahoo — but why Facebook? I guess the movie will tell…
Designer claims that he owns 84% of Facebook
Zuckerberg is currently shaking in his sneakers thanks to an evolving story concerning a guy named Paul Ceglia. Paul claims that he owns 84% of the social media goliath and Facebook claims that the lawsuit makes no sense whatsoever. A word of advice Facebook, don’t deal with this “the Apple way” — Daily Mail UK has more

Stalking is apparently an art form, and to one 57 year old ex-stalker, this generation has it too easy. What with all the Facebook and Foursquare sites that everyone visits, a victim is just asking for it. CIO.com got some sit down time with this guy, anonymously of course, and boy is
