Gmail now has "Priority Inbox" which sorts important e-mails
“Google paints Priority Inbox as an enterprise offering, but it’s available to all Gmail users. The company has already begun rolling it out to all users in all languages, while Google Apps users have to turn on the “pre-release features” setting before they’ll be able to see it.” — Ars Technica
Microsoft Co-Founder patent slaps Facebook, Apple and Google
From the department of “Holy shit, I have less money than last year. Lets sue some companies!” — Paul Allen, entrepreneur and cofounder of Microsoft has decided to create the biggest abomination in patent lawsuit history — he has filed a lawsuit against 11 companies for infringements on his Web search patents.
This is going to be fun (and messy).

From February of 2001 to August of 2010 Google has gobbled up numerous companies and services, to expand into the most iconic and diverse web company in history. They have a blogging platform, an analytics service, advertising, photo management, search (of course), and the most expansive video library in the world… most of which were bought from other companies. Here’s a look back into the history of Google’s ruthless Acquisition appetite.

Pressing “Enter” to search is so behind the times (even though we still use clickey buttons), and Google is starting to get interested. They’re planning to roll out a new feature set which will allow users to quickly see search results updated as they type, along with an auto-predicting search box (visible in the video). What really seems compelling is the accuracy of results you’ll get by seeing the current matches, before going into deeper territory. The video explains most of what I’m babbling on about…
Chrome OS tablet by Google and HTC coming Black Friday
“Yes, our source tells us that Google is building a Chrome OS tablet. It’s real, and it’s being built by HTC. No surprise there, since HTC churned out the Nexus One for Google and yes, they plan to offer it in conjunction with Verizon” — Download Squad

I have recently realized that when I’m writing articles, very often the built in spell checker is way off — so I end up heading to the Google homepage and type in my mis-spelled word. Voilà! My word appears in a “Did you mean?” prompt, and I’m good to go. The sad part is, I used Google just now to spell “voilà” correctly — @ reply us on Twitter @t3chh3lp and tell us how much Google has taken over your workflow!
Google's left over debris from their belief in Net Neutrality
“Advocates of net neutrality will look at these documents and charge betrayal. Opponents will cheer a powerful company coming to its senses. Scholars will have to decide whether this week saw one of the most remarkable volte-faces in telecommunications policy history.” — Ars Technica
Google CEO Eric Schmidt says online anonymity is dangerous
Well, if this is Eric’s actual views of the internet, we might as well pack our bags (of LOLcats) and head out on the road, looking for another way to communicate and share things we like with privacy we deserve. Eric’s argument, although its scary, is completely sensible (in the right context) — Eric believes that privacy is priority one, but the average joe shouldn’t be able to use the internet, without some kind of identifier, much like a licence plate, or social security number. This is a really interesting article, great Monday late-night reading…

If you missed your chance on getting the premiere phone that will garner you the most Geek-Cred, then Google has you covered. The Official Android Developer Phone as of right now is the Nexus One according to the Official Android Developer blog. And all you have to do is be a registered Android Developer, have $529 laying around and be ready and willing to part with it. And of course, there is that pesky fact that there are only GSM models available. Stop complaining, be glad there is a route you can still get this phone domestically.I wish they had released the Sprint version this way but I digress, could this be a harbinger to the rumored Nexus 2 Neowin mentioned? We shall see!
Google and Verizon want a Tiered Payment system for the internet
This story from the NY Times really left a bad taste in my mouth (but not because of the article) — The fact that Google and Verizon want to “team up” and charge customers more to make Google services like Youtube and Gmail “faster” than other websites, breaks the very fibre that has kept the internet alive for decades. Net neutrality.

You can now use multiple Gmail accounts in one browser
This isn’t the most exciting feature for mainstream users, but for people with multiple Gmail accounts it is a God send! I manage 8 email accounts, so many times I have had to logout of one account to use the other account, or use a plathora of different browsers. I recently resorted to forwarding all the email I have to read, to one account which creates a sh*t-storm of emails that overwhelm me every day. Now, my issues are fixed, and my inbox will have a much needed rest — Geeksugar has more
New Gmail Layout Leaked - Excitement is unbearable
Ok, I lied — this is probably the most boring thing you’ll see today, but because it’s Google everyone is going ape-crap over it, and I thought we’d join in the fun. Apperently, Gmail is going to get a facelift soon and this screenshot is making people all internet-crazy. Mashable has more on this “edge of your seat” story…

When Google announced that they killed off the Nexus One geeks everywhere were shell-shocked from the news, and admittedly were a little upset. Recent word from Google has revealed that the Nexus One would run dry in less than one week, and as of now, the device is completely sold out. It’s just so darn sad to see this thing go — to me it was the only Android phone that sparked any of my interest and now I have all the more reason to grab an iPhone or something… god help me.

This is straight from the department of “Hey… wait, what the hell just happened?” and there is no explanation for it except disappointment. Friday, Google announced that they would no longer sell the Nexus One in the US, but did mention that “customer support will still be available for current Nexus One customers” and that “Nexus One will continue to be sold by partners including Vodafone in Europe, KT in Korea, and possibly others based on local market conditions”.
